Roots In Kashmir New Delhi, India February 22, 2007 Media Release Roots In Kashmir protests Yasin Malik's fake campaign on Human Rights New Delhi [December 7, 2006]. “Roots In Kashmir” – an initiative launched by the Kashmiri Pandit youths to highlight the atrocities inflicted upon the Kashmiri Pandit minority community in the valley of Kashmir, organized a protest rally to highlight gross human rights violations by the terrorists as well the successive governments at Centre as well as State. The very terrorists who were at the forefront of killing Pandits and other citizens have now donned new attire and are playing champions of peace. “Yasin Malik, who has admitted killing of Kashmiri Pandits is now running fake campaigns in the name of humanity to gain sympathy. He is himself a killer and should be retried,” said RIK coordinator Pawan Durani. To escape persecution, more than 400,000 Kashmiri Pandits had to leave their homes and hearths back in the valley. Even after 17 years of mass exodus, more than 50,000 of these Kashmiri Pandit refugees are living in hellish conditions in uninhabitable refugee camps. “RIK endeavors to bring to light the real culprits and murders of innocent Kashmiri’s. We would like to have an answer as to what happened to our human rights?” said youth activist Aditya Raj Kaul. Kashmiri Pandit Youth living in Delhi and NCR mainly attended the rally. Senior Youth Activists Rashneek Kher and Vikram Bhat were briefly arrested by Delhi Police and kept in custody. Apart from that, the Police manhandled Sanjay Pandita, Sanjay Peshin, Rajesh Kaul and some others. More than 100 Delhi Police Jawans took RIK youth volunteers into custody on the corner of the road. The area was cordoned and we were kept inside barricades. Senior Kashmiri Pandit activist, Ajay Bharti said, “Yasin and many like him are roaming free in India because the agencies did not build water tight cases against them. Is this what we call fair justice?” “What human rights is Yasin Malik asking for, when Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate is free even after admitting killing more than 45 Kashmiri Pandits?” asks Vikram Bhat another senior activist. “What moral right does Yasin have to speak about such issue when he and his party-men are known to be murderers and supporters of senseless violence in Kashmir valley?” asks Amal Magazine of Roots In Kashmir. Just opposite to the Roots In Kashmir protest rally, Yasin Malik had organized a fake dharna. Among who participated in that protest were S.A.R. Geelani, Nandita Haksar, Sampad Prakash Krundu and some other JKLF terrorists. RIK volunteers led by Pawan Durani and Aditya Raj Kaul raised slogans against Yasin Malik, Geelani and JKLF in front of their dharna in Jantar Mantar.Kashmiri Pandit female activists led by Pooja Shali, Neeru Kaul and Annu Mattoo also joined this rally.
